I might do a full post on this sometime. But in a lot of the broader complaints about kids on social media – everything from the negative effect excessive screentime, body image on social media, bullying, mental health etc come across as ways of getting at a growing sense that something is deeply wrong or aberrant about the digital native generation, and that companies like Facebook are complicit. Cambridge Analytica and similar scandals come and go, but it feels like ones about these issues really stick and lead to a much stronger defence from the companies in question.
