As someone getting more into 3D art, after seeing what's been generated recently, I began to worry in a similar way to what GPT-3 was doing for front-end stuff 2 years back. As a prominent 3D artist/creator in the space said, "it shouldn't be this good, this early."

To temper the concerns, there's a sentiment that it will mix up workflows, make a few jobs redundant, but largely humans will still need to be prompting - and prompting the software accurately. I spoke to a friend that believes the jump from what it can give in concept stages, to production level quality is enormous and may never be made.

Yeah I tend to agree. It does feel like the disruption at the concepting level is coming very quickly, but to be able to produce production ready images is a pretty big leap.

Some days I think about learning to weld, just in case.

Could it be that the managers or people (sometimes) regarded as clogging up the works in creative environments, with no technical skills, are ironically the safest? I don't know!
